The Structural Engineering Department of the School of Civil Engineering is dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge and technological innovation in the fields of Structural and Dynamic behavior of structures, Steel Structures, Reinforced Concrete Structures, and Earthquake Engineering. It is also active in the areas of Construction Equipment and Project Management.
Through the teaching, research, and activities of its members, the Department contributes decisively to the development of safe, resilient, and sustainable structures and remains a steadfast supporter of society.

VISION
The Structural Engineering Department is the largest and leading Department of the School of Civil Engineering, steering the evolution of structural engineering science both in Greece and not only. It has played—and continues to play—a key role in the reconstruction of the country, the protection of its cultural heritage, and the promotion of sustainable development through the application of modern technologies for both new and historical constructions.
SCOPE
The Division consists of five specialized Laboratories:
Laboratory of Structural Analysis and Antiseismic Research, Reinforced Concrete Laboratory, Institute of Steel Structures, Laboratory for Earthquake Engineering, Laboratory of Construction Equipment and Project Management.
Its activities encompass the analysis, design, assessment, and upgrading of structures, aiming to improve their resilience, functionality, and safety. At the same time, it contributes to the development of new materials and technologies, promoting sustainable and innovative construction.
